Toto is ok here....for now.

Well I am sure you have heard by now about the 6 tornados that have touched down in Colorado. Well they are all North East of where we are at, which is good for us but I heard from my mom about the people up north. Aunt Joy (who is in Arizona right now) works at State Farm and her building does not have a roof anymore and that the parking lot looks like a free for all and the cars are all over the place! (Let's hope they have insurance.....HEY OH!!- ok my mom made that joke and yes I just stole it) anyway, since she is in AZ right now, she is safe- lets just hope all of her co-workers are safe as well. Cousin Bennett was in lockdown at his high school- which remember in grade school when we would have those stupid tornado drills?!?!? well seems that Bennett used those drills today! I remember thinking that we are all smashed into a hallway (which had windows at the end of each hall mind you) and thought that this was not safe and that the roof would rip off and take us one by one so I never understood that. I hope they have perfected that since I went to grade school. Anyway- just got some pics from uncle Matty- looks like he is doing ok, taking pics in a tornado is ALWAYS the right thing to do in a tornado. That is exactly what I would do! Now Steve is doing just ok, really worried about Mr. Bo- he is home alone tonight- Steve and I are both at work.
I am stuck here all week- it is the Mountain West baseball tournament week- which is pretty pointless (for me that is) but good that you can see your mtn. west teams on air. so I am in the studio this morning- doing one of the many shows that we have today- when I get a text from Tim- who lives in GJ. "Damn Bud- pretty bad weather you guys got over there!" Now at this point, I know it is going to rain, or it is raining outside- but what do I know. I am stuck behind a camera making sure Mark Knudson is in focus. "It was ugly coming into work but now I stuck in a studio all day!" is what I responded with.
After the show, I felt like I should go find a window (Honestly, if you do not walk around and get yourself outside the studio you have no idea what time it is, if it is sunny, rainy, NOTHING. The place is like prison) to see if there is something going on that I should know about. "Did you hear about the tornados" (another text from Tim) I am thinking- What the hell?? so I go to the nearest TV in the newsroom. There is a Doppler radar on the screen and the whole eastern state is red. SO in a nut shell- there has been 6 tornados that have touched down in Greeley, Fort Collins and Windsor. Pretty crazy.
SO Steve calls in a panic about Mr. Bo- what should we do with him (I say put him in the basement) he says that right now it is calm and somewhat rainy. Mr. Bo is VERY scared when it comes to storms. For a 100 pound golden retriever- he acts like he is a small pussy....I mean cat. SO I understand why we would be scared (have I mentioned that Steve can be scared on the drop of a dime as well? ok there. I just did)
Anyway, moving forward- Steve comes to work- gets a notice telling him what to do with his employees in case of a tornado...."Do you guys know what to do?" he asks me. (you guys meaning the MTN staff) "umm.....no" Since the MTN. staff is technically "renting" out space here in the CMC Steve (or the CMC rather) is not responsible for us. SO we are all assuming that the studio is safe? probably not with the 120 studio lights above us, but thats ok.....we will probably all running and scream bloody murder b/c we all graduated with a mass communications degree....which means we are all good at TV but SUCK at communicating with each other. weird.
SO now it is about 3:58 MST- bottom of the 7th inning of our second baseball game and all we are worried about is making sure our telestrator works for this next post game live. what I am worried about? oh....the dark ass clouds in the sky....Mr. Bo.....what I will eat for dinner.....and if my headache will go away.
For now.....TOTO is ok and it is just a dream. For us anyhow.
