So there I was at work, a long Sat. I believe it was the end of the basketball season- or maybe right after so we had to sit around and wait for the weekly show on Sat. night to air called "The Mountain Cap" Get it.....mountain cap....we are the mountain.....and we do a recap of everything that week? MAN we are cleaver.
Anywho- I was out and about- grabbing a bite to eat before I had to go back and what better way then to have yourself a subway sandwich? (well I can think of a lot of things better then that. Reason being- is that the mtn. likes to feed us Subway sandwich every Sat so yes, bread, cheese, meat and your choice of topping gets OLD after awhile)
SO onward. I am on the phone with my mom talking about who knows what, driving (of course- trying to be safe on the road!) pulling into the parking lot (probably drinking iced tea and stirring in the sugar and lemon as well- ALL while driving) found a space, got out of the car, still on the phone walking towards Subway- finishing up my conversation- probably about to get hit my a car b/c I am not paying any attention....any finally. I make it to Subway. On the window there is a huge sign that says "$5 foot longs!" so in my head I say "Sweet! but not really hungry for a foot long, but Sweet!"
I walk in and it feels like I am in the twilight zone. Everything is new. "A new Subway?!" I thought....but seriously lets take a side note. When was the last time you saw a new Subway where everything is NEW?!?! I was so excited. It seriously took my breath away!! I was looking around- the lighting was better- more soft. The decorations were A LOT better, felt like a cute little quite place you would find in Italy. I mean I was so impressed with this Subway. The sneeze guard was higher, cleaner, just newer! I was shocked, yet in a good way!
SO out comes this high school student coming up to take my order. I am still so shocked that this is the new Subway I am not paying any attention to anything else. She stops at the register- which is WAY too far away from the beginning of the line where I tell her I want my parmesan crusted bread- but whatever. At this point, charge me $15 for my 6 inch and I would not give a shit! (that's what she said) so she says, "Can I help you?!" In a friendly bull shit way. I know that she does not care about me OR my needs, she just wants to go home and get ready for what high school kids do. (Do they meet in the Taco Bell parking lots anymore?) So I say, out loud mind you, "Wow I love what you guys have done with the place," (like this kid lives their for christ sake) "I have not been in here in awhile, but geeze, this is awesome, really throwing me off."
I am walking towards her and the register and out of the corner of my eye I see pizza dough- which is great b/c I know that Subway is now doing pizza. But as I see this pizza dough, she says "we have not done anything with the place...." and my head is trying to keep up with my mouth b/c who knows what I will say at this point. So in my head I say, "Wait....pizza dough and no bread oven?" That is when I looked up- at the menu. (which is probably what everyone else in the USA does, EXCEPT for me) It reads, "PAPA MURPHEYS- Take and bake pizza" Are you kidding me?!?! I am in Papa Murpheys?!? so I quickly rewind in my head and remember me walking in- yes.....Papa Murpheys is RIGHT next to the Subway- and of course. I went in the wrong door!!! "Do you mean Subway? I mean, like....do you want Subway? That is next door." Thank you ass munch. Damn it!! what the hell do I say to this high schooler that is totally thinking in her head what a big douche bag I am?!?! crap. "Oh yep....sure did." and I quickly back up hoping that there is a huge line behind me that she has to deal with so she does not get her phone out and text her friends that she had a big idiot come in her store just now. Nope. Nothing. No one.
So I am all frazzled- and go into Subway. 6 inch oven roasted chicken breast on parmesan crusted bread is what I got. But humility is what I felt. ALL DAY.
Damn those doors. Damn that teenager.
